Former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari, believes Ghana can still make it to the 2018 World Cup despite having no wins from their first two matches in the series.

The Stars drew goalless with Uganda and lost 2-0 to Egypt in 2016 and they will face Congo Brazzaville in two straight matches in September this year.

Muntari says the team’s situation is familiar to what he experienced ahead of qualification to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

“You know, many people are saying that we cannot make it to the 2018 World Cup but I think we can do it. Why? Because if we win all the remaining matches, we will go to Russia.

It was the same thing with us when we were qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

We lost our first game (to Burkina Faso), drew one away but then, we won all our matches. It is the same situation and I think we can succeed,” he said on GH One TV on Friday August 4.

The match will be the fourth for head coach, Kwesi Appiah, since his re-appointment in May.
