The Christian Council of Ghana has urged President Akufo-Addo to be bold and declare Ghana’s audacious stance on homosexuality.
According to the Council, Ghana is totally against the legalization of homosexuality thus the President must not surrender to the whims and caprices of the international community.
The Christian Council’s comments come after President Akufo-Addo suggested that Ghana stand a chance to reconsider its position if it comes under pressure.
Speaking on Aljazeera’s Talk to Al Jazeera hosted by Jane Dutton, President Akufo-Addo stated that until there is a strong call by the society for this to be done, there is no way the laws will be changed.
His comment according to the General Secretary of the Council, Rev Dr Opuni Frimpong is a source of worry because it would encourage some homosexual groups to start lobbying and put pressure on Ghana to legalize it.
The Council General Secretary has therefore challenged President Akufo Addo as compared to the late former President Atta Mills to set the records straight to send a strong signal to any group wanting to lobby for the legalisation of homosexuality.Follow Us On All Social Platforms.
